Anne M. Genthe, 86, of Dubuque, formerly of Sherrill, died peacefully January 22, 2015.
Friends and family may call from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday January 25th 2015 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. Funeral service will be at 11:00a.m. Monday January 26th at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory. Entombment will follow in Linwood Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
Anne was born October 2, 1928, daughter of Edwin and Mathilda (Richard) Whitfield, of Dubuque. Anne married Earl E. Genthe on June 19, 1948 in Rickardsville. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2009.
Anne worked for ARA Services at John Deere, where she drove lunch cart and was the Union Stewart for the local chapter for 25 years, until her retirement. She devoted her life to raising her family. She enjoyed doing yard work, especially planting her beautiful flowers. Anne was a member of St. Peter and Paul Parish and Rosary Society in Sherrill.
Surviving are her children: Gary (Tammy Schmitt) Genthe of Evansdale, Leann (Steve) Sabers of Dubuque, Susan Genthe of Dubuque, Mark Genthe of Peosta, Nancy (Dale) Meyer of Dubuque, Jeff Genthe of Littleton, CO; her grandchildren: Jay & Danny Genthe, Scott & Chris (Brie) Sabers, Andy (Denice), Randy, & Abby Genthe, Matt (Danielle), Ashley, & Nick Meyer, Keri & Austin Genthe; her nine great-grandchildren; her brothers: Richard (Carla) Whitfield, Edwin (Marjorie) Whitfield, & Robert (Robyn)Whitfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Frommelt, sister and brother-in-law June & George Ackman, brother-in-law Richard Genthe, sister-in-law Vinca Doviak, and grandson Tommy Genthe.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center and Dr. Cynthia Konz & Sherri of Dubuque Internal Medicine for the excellent care they provided to Mom.
