C. Patricia “Pat” Stammeyer 90 formerly of 1716 Lawndale died Wednesday July 29, 2015 at Hawkeye Care Center in Dubuque. Funeral services will be at 11 am Monday August 3, 2015 at the Church of the Nativity 1225 Alta Vista Dubuque, with Rev, Msgr. James Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 am until 11 at the church where there will be a rosary recited at 10:45. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Patricia was born on February 7, 1925 in Cascade the daughter of John “Jack” and Katherine “Katie” (Henneberry) McLees. Pat graduated from Saint Martins High School and later from the Mercy School of Nursing in 1946 as a registered nurse. During her nursing training she met and later married Virgil F. Stammeyer on June 11, 1947 at Saint Martins Catholic Church in Cascade, he preceded her in death on May 17, 2008. She worked in the Obstetrics Department at both Mercy and Finley Hospitals for 33 years. She was a member of the Nativity Alter and Rosary and Guild, the Catholic Daughters of America Court #1287, Dubuque County Right to Life , and served as a Girl Scout Leader, and participated in Friendship Force Trip to Guatemala.
She is survived by four children Charlotte Lezcano of Portland, Cassie (Dean) of Lodi, WI, Jane Welsh of Alexandria, VA and Matt (Sue) Stammeyer of DeWitt, Iowa
Six grandchildren Able Lezcano, Sara Garcia, Bill Welsh, John, Erin, and Joe Stammeyer, six great grandchildren Lucas, Maggie and T.J. Lazcano and Hanna Mae, Gabrielle and Sam Welsh and her brother Vincent McLees of Cascade.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband a son-in-law Abel Lezcano and a brother Donald McLees.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hawkeye Care, Mercy Hospital, Hospice of Dubuque, and all family and friends, of Pat, for all the wonderful care and support they gave to her.
