Carol M. Ritt, 79, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2017.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 14, from 4-7 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, Iowa. A funeral mass will be Wednesday, February 15, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church Key West with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating.
Carol was born May 14, 1937, to George and Stella (Hufnagel) Leibfried in Rickardsville, Iowa. She married Duane P. Ritt of Balltown, Iowa, on April 26, 1954. He proceeded her in death in 2014. Per Carol’s wishes, the February 14th visitation will be a celebration of both her and Duane’s life together.
Throughout her life, Carol held many jobs but most recently enjoyed working with her sister and niece at “the beer store.”
Carol is survived by six children, Deborah Ritt, Sharon Maas, Michael (Julie) Ritt, Marsha (Nicholas) Malas, Gary (Peggy) Ritt, and Thomas (Nancy) Ritt; a sister, Joan (Bob) Valentine, and two brothers Daniel (Mickie) Leibfried, and Victor Leibfried. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Olie Avery, and brothers-in-law Dennis (Bev) Ritt, and Robert (Mary) Ritt; 19 favorite grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
Carol was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
