Carol Jean Schneider,76, of Bellevue, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, Iowa after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, at the First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue. A visitation for Carol will be from 12:00-2:00, Saturday afternoon prior to the service, at the church.
Carol was born June 8, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Fillmore and Winifred (Rice) Galaty.
Carol married George Schneider on July 15, 1961, at Grace Episcopal Church in Oak Park, ILL. Carol was very active in the community. She had a passion for teaching and taught at the Bellevue Schools, Red Cross swimming lessons, and St Nicholas Preschool for years. She was also active in Campfire girls, Blue Birds and involved in PEO, School Boosters, butterfly garden and church. Carol loved her time with children, and especially with family at her parent's cabin at the lake in Wisconsin. She will be deeply missed.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 54 years, George Schneider, son Art (Sue) Schneider Manchaca, TX son John (Diana) Schneider Bellevue, daughter Karen (Mark) VanDenEinde Woodbury MN, daughter Kris (Jamie) Young Madison MO, daughter Melissa (Jim) O'Brien Mead CO, brother Richard (Debby) Galaty Denver CO, and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Bill and Walt and a son Richard.
