Carolyn Ann Oswald

Carolyn “Cary” Ann (Jungers) Oswald, age 74 of Dubuque, formerly of Rickardsville, IA passed away peacefully December 13th, 2017 after a long illness, with family by her side at Hawkeye Care Center in Dubuque.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday December 18th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd with Deacon John Stierman officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday December 17th, 2017 at the Funeral Home.

Cary was born on July 30th, 1943 daughter of Vincent and Mary (Schmitt) Jungers. She graduated from Senior High School. Cary married Keith Oswald on August 31, 1963. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2011.

Cary worked at Montgomery Wards until its closing. She then ran her own interior decorating business for many years. Cary enjoyed crafts, playing Dr. Mario with Keith, going to the casino and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was also an avid bowler, enjoyed golfing with her nephew, Tim and really enjoyed her girl’s night out with her niece, Cathy. Cary always looked forward to her & Keith’s winter trips to Florida and Arizona. She had been through more than any one person should, beating cancer twice. Her grandson often referred to her as a “tough cookie”

Cary is survived by her son; Tony (Kelly), a grandson; Justin (Ronalyn), a granddaughter; Becca, step-grandchildren; Lane, Kenzie, and Ashlyn. Her siblings; Pat Kenyon, Ron (Loie) Jungers, and Paul (Shari) Jungers and several nieces and nephews.

Cary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son; Mark, a daughter; Tracey, and a sister, Donna Zaug.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Hawkeye Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque.
