Catherine M. “Kay” Petitgout, 72 of East Dubuque, IL passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 31st, 2015 at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd. With Rev. Dianne Grace of Hospice of Dubuque officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Kay was born on October 20, 1942, the daughter of Steven and Mildred (Herard) Green. She was a part of the second class to graduate from Wahlert High School in 1961. After graduating she attended Beauty School and married Patrick Petitgout to whom she was married for 23 years. Kay also worked for UPS as a loader for 29 years before she retired.
She loved spending time with family and friends, especially getting coffee and lunch with the girls. Kay loved to spending time in her flower garden. Many days were spent tending to her “Plantation” but most of all she loved spending time with her granddaughters who she adored.
Kay is survived by her four sons; Craig (Janine) Petitgout of Coralville, IA, Brad (Sarah) Petitgout of Dubuque, Rick (Marj) Petitgout of Dubuque, and Patrick (Deann) Petitgout of East Dubuque, IL. Eight granddaughters; Sidney, Rylee, Sadie, Sophie, Emma, Chloe, Braylee, and Ariana. A brother Jim (Dorothea) Green and a sister Mary (Bill) Habel. She is also survived by her special friends; Jeannie Dunwoody, Cindy Krause, Jeanny Ambrosy, and Dee-Dee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Jay, Clarence “Shorty”, Milton “Moose”, J.P. “Lefty”, and Tom, and a sister Monica Ann in infancy.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque, Dr. Janes, her hospitalists’ and the nurses and staff of the second floor C.V.U. at Mercy Medical Center for all their wonderful care they gave to Kay.
