Charlene J. Jones, 76, of Dubuque passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20th, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.
According to her wishes there will be no public service or visitation. A private family burial will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is assisting the family.
Charlene was born on May 29th, 1940 at her home in Waterville, IA the daughter of Samuel Clark and Vera (Hamm) Nichols. She attended a one room school house at sixteen and graduated in 1958 from Waterville High School. Charlene was employed with Younkers and Armstrong’s and was an “Avon Lady” for many years.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved the outdoors, sports, music, dancing and sitting on her sun porch. Charlene had a huge heart and helped many people through the years. She was an amazing mother to her four children and had a helping hand in raising all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by everyone.
Charlene is survived by her four children; Leslie Houselog, Reggie Jones, Angela (Frank) Woods, and Corey Jones. Grandchildren; Melissa and Sam Houselog, Vito and Jack Freese, Nicole (Mitch) Milligan, Tiffany Woods, Chuckie (Sheyanne) Woods, and Andrew, Tyler and Hannah Jones. Great Grandchildren; Seth and Aubrianna Houselog, Jamare and Jakobe Bell, Ayden Milligan and Kendall Rose Woods. A brother; Chad (Laura) Nichols and sisters; Elaine and June Nichols.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister; Carol Nichols.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Memorials may be sent directly to the family or to the funeral home.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque and Dr. Janes and his staff for the wonderful care they gave to Charlene.
