Charles F. Jewell, 75 of East Dubuque, IL passed away on May 20, 2016 at Ennoble Manor.
Family and friends may gather from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26th, 2016 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Charles was born on October 30, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Charles E. and Mary (Bellings) Jewell. He attended school in Dubuque and served in the army from 1957 to 1959.
He married Carol A. Miller and together they had two daughters Cheryl and Cindy. She passed away in October of 2001. He later married Carol J. Snouffer and she preceded him in death in February of 2015
He worked as a service and parts manager at Kenworth in Birmingham, AL.
Charles or “Elmer” as he was known as in the early days loved his old time radio programs on Sunday nights, NASCAR races, and the Chicago Cubs. He had a love for his cats and dogs and especially enjoyed being with his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Dan) Dalberg and Cindy (Jim Kubitz) Jewell. His siblings, Mitchell Warner, of Dubuque, Trudy (Robbie) Fischer, of Gillespie, IL, Sylvia (Ned) Newingham, of Gillespie, IL and Chris Warner, of Livingston, IL along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Ben Jewell.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Hermann and Staff, Ennoble Manor, and Hospice of Dubuque for all their wonderful care and kindness they gave to Charles.
