Charles D. “Don” Woods, 74 of Zwingle, Iowa passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Luther Manor in Dubuque,
Funeral service will be at 10:30a.m. on Thursday, May 21st, 2015 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Pastor Stuart Vander Vegte officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, with full military detail by American Legion Post #6. Friends may call from 3:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Wednesday, May 20th, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory.
He was born on December 21, 1940 in Kentucky the son of Richard and Irene (Ingles) Woods. He married Sheila Bellings on May 11, 1968. He is a United States Air Force Veteran and worked as an truck driver retiring from H&W Motor Express in 2002.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and loved being around people especially his family.
He is survived by his wife Sheila, four children, Barbara (Dave) Weldon, of Danville, Kentucky, James “Rick” Woods, of Dubuque, Christopher Woods, of Austell, Georgia, Charles D. “Chuck” (LuAnn McKinley) Woods, Jr. of Sauk City, Wisconsin. Twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Four sisters; Dora Moore, Louise Kirk, Mildred (Frank) Bridges, Bonnie Malone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Donald “Terry”, two brothers, William and Sam and a sister Agnes.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque, the staff of Luther Manor and Dr. Bruce Abele and his staff for all their wonderful care.
