David J. Grant, 67, of San Francisco, CA formerly of Dubuque, Iowa passed away suddenly on December 4, 2017 at California Pacific Medical Center.
Private family committal services will be on Friday, December 29th, 2017 at Mount Olivet Cemetery Chapel, with entombment to follow in Mount Olivet Chapel Mausoleum. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is assisting the family.
David was born on October 4, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of James W. and Leona (Mohr) Grant. He graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School in 1968, received his MA from the University of Iowa and his MBA from UC San Francisco.
He worked for many years with various nonprofit and advocacy organizations in San Francisco, most notably the Senior Action Network. He was also a freelance consultant and grant writer who received a commendation from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for his many years of using the law and public process to protect and expand the rights of low income people.
He is survived by his sister Sheila (Dennis) Frank, of Dubuque; two nephews Andy Frank and Marty Frank, and two great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
