David Mangers Obituary

David D. Mangers, 61, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on August 24th, 2018 at home surrounded by his wife and children after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 29th, 2018 at St. St. Joseph Church, Key West with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 28th, 2018 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 3:00 p.m.
 
Dave was born on June 27, 1957 in Fort Smith, Arkansas the son of Dale and Mary (Butlett) Mangers.
 
On November 25th, 1978 he married Kim Marie Engling in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked for 38 years at American Trust and Savings Bank in the accounting dept.
 
Dave coached his three sons with the Key West Little League Baseball team. He later coached his grandson Brandon in the Dubuque Independent League Astros.
 
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting, and giving wagon rides to the grandkids with the lawnmower. He recently rebuilt a 1971 Buick GS455 with his son Steven. He like to cheer on the Minnesota Vikings with his grandson Brandon, and like to cheer on St. Louis Cardinals to rival Chicago Cubs with his wife Kim.

 

He is survived by his wife Kim; his father Dale Mangers, of Dubuque; his daughter Jessica (Thomas Walker Jr.) Mangers, of Dubuque; son's Steven (Sarah) Mangers, of Dubuque, Michael (Ashley) Mangers, of Dubuque, James (Matt Merkel) Mangers of Seattle, WA. Two sisters Debbie (Rick Brewer) Frommelt, of Dubuque and Julie (Mike) Ritt, of Dubuque. Grandchildren, Brandon Mangers, Logan Walker, Ethan Walker, Ryan Mangers, Raylan Walker, Kaleb Mangers, Nolan Mangers, Caitlynn Mangers, Abygail Mangers and Luke Mangers. Sisters-in-law Shella (Steve) Czipar, of Dubuque, Malinda Ahmann, of Dubuque, Lisa (Joe) Simon, of Ponder, TX, Laura O'Brien, of Rockford, IL. Brother-in-law Alfred (Kris) Engling Jr. of Dubuque; mother-in-law Mary Engling, of East Dubuque, IL; Godchildren Nikki (Gary) Ostrander, of Dubuque, and Jasmine Ritt, of Dubuque, along with several nieces and nephews.
 
Dave was preceded in death by his mother Mary Mangers; father-in-law Alfred Engling; brother-in-law Daniel Engling; grandparents Clarence and Agnes (Streff) Butlett, William and Eleanor (Gilles) Mangers, and several aunts and uncles.
 
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque especially Kristen Julie, Gary and Sara, Dr. Monga and nurse Jody, and Dr. Salas and nurse Kristy, along with Kim and Dave's many friends  for all their wonderful care and kindness.
