Dorothy D. Montag, 90 of Dubuque passed away Saturday January 7, 2017 at Luther Manor.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Rev. Donald Bakewell officiating. Burial will Follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends may gather after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, until the time of services at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born on December 4, 1926, in Tennyson, Wisconsin the daughter of William “Ray” and Bertha (Hinderman) Morgan. She married Leo Loso on January 15, 1946 and together they had 4 children. She later married Leo “Chris” Montag on January 9, 1976. Dorothy worked for many years at Timmermans Supper Club as a waitress and at Flexsteel Industries as a seamstress.

Dorothy enjoyed many years living in Arizona with Chris. She welcomed her extended Montag family into her life after their marriage. She also enjoyed sharing her many talents with her family and friends, whether by sharing her sewing talents, her artistic talents, or her creativity and craft work, her love and sense of humor always showed through along with her special love for her cats.

She is survived by her daughters Beverly (Vince) Riniker, and Cindy (Mike) Flynn, both of Dubuque; her sons Brian (Pat) Loso, of East Dubuque and Rick Loso, of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Misty (Don) Slaats, of East Dubuque, Bill Heacock, of Cedar Falls, Garry (Carrie) Clauer, of Potosi, Mike (May) Clauer, of Sanford, NC, Joshua Loso, of N.C., Nicolette (Brian) Welter, of Holy Cross, Melanie Loso, of Minneapolis, and Crista Leibold, of North Liberty, two brothers-in-law Jerry VanOstrand, and Keith Cardey, and many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her extended Montag family including her step daughters Sandy (Florian) Tigges, Kay (Mike) O’Toole, and Kris Ann (Kevin) Stehlow, and step sons Tony (Colleen) Montag, and Rick (Kristie) Montag, and her additional 26 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chris, a brother Bill, sisters Delores Flogel, Ella Mae Avenarius, Lorraine Cardey, Velma Jean VanOstrand, Flora Lou Beecher, sister-in-law Kay Morgan, brothers-in-law Herman Flogel, Norm Avenarius and Jack Beecher and a step son Tom Montag.

Some special thanks go out to the staff at Luther Manor and to Doctors Honorio Caceres, Mark Janes, and Roger Ott Jr. and all other health care professionals that cared for Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers, a Dorothy D. Morgan memorial fund has been established.
