Eunice F. Banwarth, 96 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on July 9, 2017 at Luther Manor Care Center.
Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 13th, 2017 at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church with Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 3:00 p.m.
Eunice was born on November 12, 1920 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of John and Fannie (Burkhardt) Sitterly. She married Charles Banwarth on December 30, 1942 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2010.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Eunice enjoyed listening to music. She was a homemaker and took great pride into caring for her family. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. Her children share a deep love for the sweet gentle loving person she was.
She is survived by her children, Judy Hafeman, Jane Buti, Jim (Francine) Banwarth, all of Dubuque; Joan (Denny) Shields, of Monfort, WI, Mary (Jerry) Klimesh, of Cuba City, WI, and Dan (Toni) Banwarth, of Peosta. 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, grandson Michael Christopher Klimesh, great grandson Cole Thomas Shields, sons-in-law Roger Hafeman and Otto Buti; her sister Carol (Charles) Heeren, and brother Walter Sitterly.
In lieu of flowers a Eunice F. Banwarth memorial fund will be established.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Luther Manor, Dr. Matthew Kirkendall and his staff, and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Elizabeth and Amy for all their care and kindness they gave to Eunice.
