 Gerald T. “Jerry” Corrigan, 88 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Wednesday January 14th, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

 Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 19th at the Church of the Nativity with Msgr. James Miller officiating, and the Nativity Guild reciting the rosary at 10:15 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post #6. Friends may call from 1:00 to 5:00 on Sunday, January 18th at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where there will be a parish wake service at 1:00p.m. There will be an American Legion Past Commander ceremony at 4:00p.m.

 Jerry was born on April 23, 1926 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa the son of James and Rose (McCormick) Corrigan. He married Anna May Ryan on June 20th, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Church in Masonville, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1994.

 He attended Paint Rock Elementary School and Harpers Ferry High School. At the age of 18 he entered the US Army and proudly served his country along with nine of his ten brothers. He served during WWII in the Philippians and later during the Occupation of Japan. He then attended Loras College, graduating in 1951.

 He worked for Dubuque Stamping and Manufacturing for 38 years, primarily as Quality Control manager until his retirement in 1991.

 Jerry was a very active member of the American Legion Post #6 of Dubuque, his favorite hangout.  He held many offices including Commander and also served on the Military Honors Burial Detail. He was a member of the 40 & 8 of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Eagles Club of Dubuque.

 Jerry was also a devoted member of the church of the Nativity where he served on the Parish Council and was an usher for many years.

 In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors. Since his boyhood, he was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed playing golf, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, the Green Bay Packers and taking Sunday morning walks on Dubuque’s River walk, where he would strike up a conversation with the tourists passing by.

 He is survived by his three daughters; Margaret “Peggy” (Mike) Stoecklein, of Lakeville, MN, Mary Rose Corrigan-Psihoyos (Gus), of Dubuque, Colleen Kersch, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren; Jerry, Annie, Danny, Jane, Ben, Nicolas, and Louie, and one great grandchild James; four brothers John (Lois) Corrigan, Richard (Elaine) Corrigan, Bob (Peg) Corrigan, all of Cedar Rapids, and Pat Corrigan, of Decorah and many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anna May, his daughter Jane Corrigan,   son-in-law Matt Kersch, brothers Charles, Mike, Cyril, Wayne, Mark and James; sisters-in-law; Eleanor, LaVerle, and LaVonne.

The family wishes to thank all of the health care providers that have looked after Jerry over the years.  While Jerry will have the best seat in the house for the NFC championship game featuring his beloved Green Bay Packers, friends and family will have to settle for the broadcast at the funeral home.
