Gerald Lee “Jerry” Weber, 68, of Dubuque passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 7th, 2015.
A remembrance ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 12th, 2015 at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd. Family and friends may gather after 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Jerry was born on August 16th, 1947 in Dubuque, the son of Burdette and Darlene (Noggle) Weber. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, class of 1966 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was formerly united in marriage to Jenny Cook at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dubuque. Jerry was employed by the City of Dubuque in the Leisure Services Department for 35 years until his retirement in 2009.
He thoroughly enjoyed traveling, watching St. Louis Blues and Dubuque Fighting Saints Hockey and had a passion for baseball especially the Milwaukee Brewers. Jerry loved camping, photography and morel hunting, but most importantly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his son; Gabe. The memories they shared together will last forever. Jerry was definitely a man that lived each day to the fullest and he will be deeply missed for his smile that could light up a room and a laugh that was purely infectious.
Jerry is survived by his devoted son; Gabe Weber, of Dubuque, brothers; James Weber, of Peosta and Kevin (Kathy) Weber, of Dubuque. A nephew; Kristopher Weber, of Dubuque, two nieces; Kara Weber, of Dubuque and Tina (Jason) Hartman, of Chicago, IL, and loving mother; Darlene Weber, of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his father; Burdette in 2002, a brother; Joe in 2011, a sister-in-law; Karen Weber in 2011, and a niece; Fawn Weber in 2003.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Dubuque, Dr. Alt and his staff, and Dr. Furqan and his staff at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for the wonderful care they gave to Jerry.
