Herron Lynn Hinman, 66, of Dubuque Iowa, passed away December 25th 2017 from complications of a long history of prostate cancer.

Family and friends may gather from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 31st, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road.  Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery at a later date.

He was born on October 18, 1951 in Dubuque Iowa, son of Lynn D. and Harriett H. Hinman.

He graduated from Dubuque Senior High school in 1969. He was involved in Cross Country and Track while attending Senior, and held a school record in Track for many years. He attended NIACC Community College in Mason City, Iowa, returning to Dubuque to work at John Deere and later McGraw Hill, retiring in 2008.

He was an avid fisherman, loved cookouts and outdoors. He was a loyal Vikings fan, an Iowa Hawkeye fan, and an Iowa State Cyclone fan, when they weren't playing the Hawkeyes. He enjoyed family gatherings and Bud Light in bottles.

He is survived by his brother Jerry Hinman; sisters Melanie Hinman, Eleanor (Scott) Wallace; a sister-in-law, Anne Chesterman. Nieces, Barb (Kevin) Kehl, Jane (Vikram) Chesterman-Chinchankar, Beth (Will) Chesterman-Sands, Lynn (Jessie) Nelson, Hannah (Nick Konzen) Wallace; one nephew Tyler Wallace; seven great nieces and nephews, and special friend, Sallie Moore and her family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother Robert Chesterman.
