Isabelle A. Davis (Mrs. Harry B. Davis) 96, of Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque, formerly of 2075 Mullin Road, passed away on Friday, November 13th, 2015.
She was born on June 20, 1919, at Holy Cross, Iowa, daughter of John and Anna (Meyer) Gotto. Isabelle married Harry on September 16, 1947, at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband on October 18th, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Emmett (Rosemary) Gotto of Albany, CA; Florence (Robert) Apel of Dubuque; and Irene (Rollin) Kip of Phoenix, AZ.
She is survived by 12 nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15th, 2015 with Reverend Monsignor Thomas Toale officiating. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 2:30 pm until 4:00 pm. Cremated remains will rest besides her husband at the Mt. Calvary Columbarium.
Isabelle was a kind and gentle soul who never spoke a bad word about anyone. She was devoted to being Harry’s wife for 52 years, was an avid Euchre player throughout her life, loved cooking, reading and crossword puzzles, and played the piano beautifully. Isabelle never tired when given the opportunity to dance to the Big Band sound. She had a passionate love of shoes and she continued this love until her passing.
The family extends a Thank You to the wonderful Staff of the Memory Care Unit at the Stonehill Care Center and to Hospice of Dubuque for their excellent, supportive and personal care of Isabelle during her journey to Heaven.
