Janice M. Kass, 80, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 at Dubuque Specialty Care.
Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10th, 2016 at St. Raphael Cathedral with Msgr. Thomas Toale officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday. December 9th at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 4pm.
Janice was born on February 21, 1936 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of John and Alvena (Abeln) Stoffel. She married Vernon Kass on June 18, 1960 at Saint Patrick’s in Epworth.
She worked in the Kitchen at Finley Hospital, also at John Deere and at the Bridge Restaurant. Was a member of the Catholic Order of Forrester’s.
Her family was her life, growing up as a single child her goal was to have a large family and encourage others to do the same. She was a great cook and baker who made a special effort on her Sunday dinners and special birthday meals for her family. She will be greatly missed but her legacy of kindness, grace, serenity, unconditional love and faith, will remain with her family and everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Vernon; children, Debra (George) Moler, Charlie Kass, David (Siow Leng Long) Kass, Dan (Theresa) Kass, Don (Karla) Kass and Dennis Kass. Seven grandchildren, Kyle Sheffer, Nicole Kass, Nathan Kass, Lauren Kass, Meredith Kass, Jordan Kass, and Ryan Kass along with many nieces and nephews.
A Janice Kass memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to thank all the health care professionals, family and friends who showed care and compassion for Janice throughout her life.
