Jeanette Cannon

Jeanette Cannon, 86, of Dubuque, IA and formerly of Bernard died Thursday evening August 27, 2015 at Luther Manor.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Steve Rosonke officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick’s Garryowen Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 Sunday, August 30, 2015 at The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory 2595 Rockdale Road where there will be a parish wake service at 2:00 p.m.

Jeanette was born in Dubuque, Iowa on January 17, 1929, the daughter of Leo and Emma (Puff) Hartmann. She married John “Jack” Cannon on March 28, 1951 at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque and together they shared 64 wonderful years. 

Jeanette worked at the former Western Auto and was a member of the Bernard, Zwingle and Holy Ghost Senior Citizens, the Saint Jude’s Quilter’s, Saint Anthony’s Parish and the Rosary Society and was a former member of Saint Patrick’s Garryowen parish and the Cascade and Western Dubuque Band Booster Club’s. She loved to bake cookies, quilt and sew, and spend time with her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Jack, and her children, Mike (Christy) Cannon, of Clinton, Mary Jo (Greg) Schoepke, of New Berlin, WI, Mark (Mary Jo) Cannon, of Dubuque, Pat (Dawn) Cannon, of Marion, Ann (Rich) Lewitzke, of Ixonia, WI, Sue (Paul) Eaves, of Richardson, TX, Dan (Lisa) Cannon, of Mount Vernon, Dave (Salena) Cannon, of Wylie, TX, 19 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law Donna and Gen Hartmann, a brother-in-law Thomas Cannon, of Clinton and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was the last surviving child in her family and was preceded in death by her sister’s Marie (Clete) Hein, Francis (Leonard) Smith, and Lucille in infancy, brother’s Carl (Katie) Hartmann, Leo Jr. Arthur (Jeanette), Donald (Mabel), Bill and Tom and Sisters-in-law Janaan (Jay) McDonald and Frances Cannon.

In lieu of flowers a Jeanette Cannon Memorial Fund has been established.
