Jeffrey Michael Fitzgerald

Jeffrey Michael “Fitz” Fitzgerald, 57, of Dubuque, IA passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 at his home.

According to his wishes there will be no public visitation or service. A Celebration of Life will be held with a date and location to be determined. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd. is assisting the family.

Fitz was born on June 26, 1960 in Dubuque the son of James C. and Carol D. “Budie” Fitzgerald. He attended Wahlert High School and graduated in 1978. He married Karen Schwartz on August 9th, 1985 and together they had two daughters, Kristina and Brittni.

Fitz was employed with Eagle Window and Door in Dubuque. He was a former Golden Glove Boxing Champion and enjoyed playing fast pitch softball. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics. Fitz was a man who was never afraid to express how he felt and “say it like it is”. Those who knew him well always understood his life of organized chaos. Fitz loved spending time with his family and friends and will be deeply missed by many.

Fitz is survived by his two daughters, Kristina (Jeff) Streif and Brittni Fitzgerald both of Dubuque. Two grandsons, Jay and Myles and a “granddog”, Kinnick. Two brothers, John (Paula) Fitzgerald and Jimmy (Martha) Fitzgerald; nephews, Sean, Chad and David; and an aunt Judy Biggin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to good friends, Mike and Tara along with uncle John and all other first responders that showed care and compassion during this difficult time.
