Jeffrey A. Ruden, 54, of Bernard, IA passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd, with Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the funeral home and also after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of service.
Jeff was born on July 25, 1962 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Eldon and Dorothy (Fischer) Ruden. He attended West Dubuque High School and graduated from Loras College with a degree in Economics.
He worked for Cascade Lumber, Roeder Outdoor Power and lastly for Connolly Construction.
Jeff enjoyed to ride his motorcycle especially with his cousin Roger Fischer; shooting pool; but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always there to lend a hand either as a mechanic or a carpenter and was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by his mother Dorothy; siblings, Jane Ruden, Dave (Rita) Ruden, Joyce (George) Giannakouras, and Dennis Ruden; along with many nieces nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death his father Eldon Ruden on April 15, 2010.
In lieu of flowers a Jeffrey A. Ruden memorial fund will be established.
The family wishes to thank Connolly Construction especially Jude and Al; the doctors and nurses at Mercy Emergency Room in Dubuque; and to the Cardiac ICU at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for all their care and compassion they gave.
