John Steven Soppe, age 57 of 2655 Jackson St. Died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 7:00p.m. Thursday February 14, 2013 at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Deacon Jim Thill officiating. Friends may call from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
John was born on August 2, 1955 in Dubuque the son of Robert George and Irene (Felton) Soppe. He worked as a crane operator for Cargill Grain Terminal and lastly for IEI Barge Terminal in East Dubuque.
He was an avid Pool Player and loved to Fish with his friends Doug and Vinni
He is survived by his children John Steven (Tiffany) Soppe Jr. of Madison, Robert George Soppe, of Dubuque, Angela Soppe, of Madison and Tiffany Soppe, of Dubuque. Two step daughters Nicole and Heather of Dubuque, four grandchildren Gessa Rae, Ella Kathleen, Kahlan, and Clara. His mother and step father Irene (Harold) Dement, of Dubuque, sister Ruth Jurisic, of Dubuque, brother Robert Soppe, of Dubuque step sisters Ren’e (Wade) Johnson, Cindy (Masa) Iwasaki, and Wendy (Ray) Schickel, step brothers
Glenn Dement and Terry (Laura) Dement, a step sister in law Mae Dement, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his pool buddies.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert George Soppe, a sister Rose Marie Soppe, step brother Dean Dement and step sister Connie Dement.
