Joseph S. LoBianco, Jr. 82, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on August 17, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016 at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church with Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, with military honors by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, August 21st at St. Joseph The Worker where a wake service will be at 1:45p.m. and a rosary by the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph The Worker Counsel  at 5:15 p.m. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, Iowa is assisting the family.

Joe was born on January 6, 1934 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Joseph and Anna (DiNova) LoBianco. He graduated from Loras Academy in Dubuque in 1952.

On May 9, 1959 he married Janet Adams. He worked at Sears for many years and later sold insurance for Knights of Columbus. After retiring from the Knights of Columbus, he continued insurance sales with the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Joe served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He felt very privileged to have gone on an Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2014 with his good Friend Roger Kutsch. 

He was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Chapter 10069.

He was an active member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church and his faith was very important to him. He always enjoyed being involved in his Loras Academy class reunions and kept in touch with many classmates.

He is survived by his wife Janet; daughters: Jeana (Jay) Welu, of Naperville, IL, and Jennifer (Brian) Pillard, of Dubuque; six grandchildren: Sam Welu, Sydney Welu, and Max Welu, all of Naperville, IL, Nick (Julie) Pillard, of Davenport, Ben Pillard and Zachary Pillard both of Dubuque; great granddaughter Harper Pillard; one brother Rev. Pat LoBianco, of Techny, IL, and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Stan and Louis; a sister Rose Hebert; sister-in-law Mary LoBianco; brother-in-law Pat Hebert; nephews and niece, Tim LoBianco, Joe and Tracy LoBianco.

A Joseph S. LoBianco memorial fund has been established.

A special thank you to Dr. Mark Runde and his nurse Julie, Dr. Tom Johnson, Dr. Scott Brock and Dr. John Whalen and all their nursing staffs; you provided many years of caring and compassion.
