Joseph H. Marcov, Sr. 75 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on November 21, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 25th, 2016 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, with Pastor Rick Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post #6. Family and friends may gather after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until time of service.
Joe was born on September 15, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Christopher and Myrtle (Seeley) Marcov. He married Mary Davis on May 21, 1966 in Dubuque. He served in the US Army 1962 to 1965.
He worked for the former Dubuque Packing Company until retirement. He was a member of UFCW Local 150A and the American Legion Post #6.
He enjoyed to hunt, fish, garden, cooking, his animals and woodworking; but he mostly loved to spend time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Mary; three children, Joseph (Amy) Marcov Jr., of Cedar Rapids, Newel (Stacy) Marcov, of Dubuque, Connie Marcov, of Dubuque. Nine grandchildren, Alissa, Lindsay, Megan, Amanda, Levi, Sylvia, Alex, Jacob and Nathan; five great grandchildren, Evan, Adler, Easton, Kaleb, and Libby. His sister-in-law Nancy (Dave) Moore and brother-in-law David (Carla) Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters
In lieu of flowers a Joseph Marcov Sr. memorial fund will be established.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Rahm, Dr. Hobson and the nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center for all their wonderful care and kindness.
