Joyce Ann Blum, 72, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away suddenly and unexpected on July 15, 2917 at Ennoble Manor.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 20th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Msgr. James Miller officiating. Family and friends may gather after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home until time of service. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Joyce was born on September 17, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Ackerman) Blum. She received her LPN from St. Lukes in Cedar Rapids, her RN from NICC and her Bachelor of Science in 1986 from St. Francis in Joliet, IL.
Joyce worked for over 40 years at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque until becoming disabled.
Joyce loved visiting with friends and family; shopping, traveling and of course gambling.
She is survived by her brother Robert and Carol Blum, and her sister Leta and Ralf Schreyer. Nephews Bryan and Marie Blum and their children Nicole and Justin; Brad and Amy Blum, and their children, Madelynn, Benjamin, Allison and Andrew. James and Amy Blum, and their children, Devon, Calvin, Miles and Spencer. Gene and Kelli Blum and their daughter Sarah. Her nieces, Brenda and Mel Schumacher and their children Robbie and Natalie. Betsy and Jeff Grant, and their children Laura and Nicholas. Also her friends that were like family Marge Sweeney, Nancy Thompson, Mitz and Rick Cornish, and Carol Howeler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law Samuel Gene and Linda Blum, her niece Becky Blum and sister-in-law Linda (Lefty) Blum.
Memorials may be given to the Dubuque Humane Society.
The family wishes to thank Gene Blum, Mitzi and Rick Corinvh and Nancy Thompson for visiting Joyce regularly in good times and bad. And to all those who provided care for Joyce.
