Joyce Ann (Schlichte) Goffinet, age 64 of Monticello, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer
Family and friends may gather from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road in Dubuque. A memorial and remembrance service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Deacon Mark Schlichte officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Olivet Cemetery
Joyce was born on January 30, 1950, in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Alma (Greiner) Schlichte. Joyce attended Leo High School in Holy Cross, Iowa. She retired from Flexsteel Industries Inc., Dubuque, Iowa in 1995. Joyce married John Goffinet on July 22, 1994.
Joyce loved playing golf, flower gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. Joyce was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church in Monticello.
Joyce is survived by her husband John, daughters Lisa (Robert) Lucas-McGhee and Dawn (Jim) Clemens, step-daughters Kelly (Mike) Dickson, Korrinna (Scott) Glass and stepsons Mark (Marcia) Goffinet, David and Tom (Sara) Goffinet, five grandchildren Amanda and Emily Fudge, Robby McGhee, Michael Tigges and Tanner Clemens and eight step-grandchildren, Allison (Mike) McGuire, Collin Dickson, Mason and McKenna Goffinet, Janelle (Jake) Diehl, Jackson Goffinet and Will and Cole Glass and two step-great grandchildren, Bradley and Alena Diehl. Joyce is also survived by her mother Alma Willenborg, brothers Gene (Tanya) Schlichte, Mark (Maureen) Schlichte and sisters Wilma (Donnie) Rausch and Donna (Steve) Hunter.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father Elmer and brother Gary.
In lieu of flowers, a Joyce A. Goffinet Memorial Fund has been established.
The family would like to thank Above and Beyond Hospice for their care of Joyce.
