Judy Van Blarcom

Judy (Stoffel) Van Blarcom, 72, of Dubuque, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 2nd at Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Rev. Dwayne Thoman officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Leonard Funeral Home, 2595 Rockdale Road on Thursday, October 1st from 3:00-7:00 p.m. where a wake service will be at 6:45 p.m.

She was born on May 19, 1943, daughter of Stanley and Bonnie Stoffel.  Judy attended Holy Ghost Elementary School and graduated from Wahlert High School in 1961.  She married Earl Van Blarcom on May 30, 1964, in Dubuque.  Judy was a member of Holy Ghost and St. Anthony’s parishes.  She was employed as a switchboard operator at Finley Hospital for 27 years.

Judy’s passion was spending time with her family. She was a voracious reader and also enjoyed participating in car cruises with the Tri-Sate Automobile Club, bowling, playing cards, traveling, playing bingo and cheering on her grandchildren.  Everyone she knew recognized her kindness and selflessness.  Judy’s family has been blessed by her legacy of a generous and loving spirit.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Bonnie Stoffel, brother-in-law, Jim Van Blarcom, sister-in-law, Phyliss Bly and nephews, Pat Bly and Mark Van Blarcom.  She is survived by her husband, Earl, two daughters, Kim (Joe) Flanagan, of Kansas City, Missouri and Kerri (Ryan) Paulson of Dubuque, Iowa, grandchildren:  Alexandra, Colin, Delaney, of Kansas City and Avery, of Dubuque, siblings: Pat (Rosey Stoffel), Rob (Barb) Stoffel, Steve (Janel) Stoffel and Mike (Roxanna) Stoffel, in-laws:  Barb Van Blarcom and Lois (Del) Link and Aunt, Arlene Stoffel and 23 beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorials will be made to Hospice of Dubuque and several other organizations Judy held close to her heart.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Amy.  Your care and kindness will never be forgotten.
