Karel was born January 30, 1943, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Harriet (Gerndt) Harry.

Mrs. Reinert was a Registered Nurse, a devoted wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a friend to all she had come in contact with in her lifetime. Karel graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in1961. Then went on to The Finley School of Nursing to obtain her nursing degree. She cared for patients at Xavier Hospital of Dubuque, and when it was closed in 1981, joined staff at Mercy Medical Center of Dubuque Ia. She then became an outpatient visiting nurse for Mercy Home Care where she retired.

Karel also possessed many crafty skills like quilting, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. The one area that got her the most recognition was her cooking/baking touch. She would make cakes and frost to whatever fad and whim a person would think up. This earned her the nickname “The Cake Lady” and anyone who had the pleasure of receiving one of these cakes would only agree she was “The Cake Lady”. All Karels talents aside, the one to matter most was that she cared. That means that whatever the reason you were touched by her you knew it mattered no matter how big or small the issue was. She had many attributes that make her a truly special and one of a kind lady. She will be missed but not forgotten.

Karel married Mr. Joseph G. Reinert on July26, 1969. He died on January 20 1995.

Surviving Karel are her three children, Michael J. Reinert, David G. Reinert, and  Karrianne J. Reinert. Followed by two very loved grandchildren, Andrew R. Reinert and Adam J. Reinert, born to Michael and Deanne (Behnke) Reinert. Karel is survived by five brothers, Ted (Lynda) Harry, Gary Harry, Lloyd (Valerie) Harry, David (Myrna) Harry, and Brian (Kim) Harry. Two sisters Jackeye (Tony) Urbain, and Barbara (Hal) Burns. Along with many truly loved nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were her parents Lloyd and Harriet Harry , Duane Harry (Brother), Mary Kay Harry (Sister), and Malcom Grosshiem (Brother).

A Karel J Reinert memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to say Thank You to those who helped and provided that extra little touch to Karel to make everything easier. A second Thank you goes out to Pat, Nancy, Midge, and Virginia. Again to all Thank You so Much.
