Kathleen “Kathy” L. McKillop Priebe passed away in her home, surrounded by loved ones at 78, after valiantly fighting breast cancer for over 14 years. Kathy grew up in Sunnyvale, Calif. She studied education at San Jose College where she met her future husband, Duane Priebe, during a folk dance at YM/YWCA. It was love at first sight. The two got married on Aug. 7, 1960 and welcomed their first son, Chris Priebe on June 15, 1967. Their second son, David Priebe, was born Aug. 6, 1970 following a short hike. In addition to raising two sons, she handled the reaccreditation for Wartburg Seminary, and was heavily involved as a church secretary. Between her love of traveling and dedication to education, she enriched the lives of her grandchildren through an unrelenting commitment to support, promote and encourage their endeavors. Kathy is survived by her husband, Duane, son Chris and his wife Jerri, son David and his wife Amy, grandchildren: Andrew (Tanya), Christopher (Meghan), Kytana (Katie), Alyssa and great grandchild, Sophie.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 28th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29th, at St. John's Lutheran Church in St. Donatus.
