Kevin Lightfoot Obituary

Kevin Laverne Lightfoot, 54, of Dubuque died March 12, 2018 at his home

Military honors will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24th at Mount Olivet Cemetery Chapel accorded by American Legion Post #6.

Kevin was born November 26th, 1963 in Iowa City, son of Gerald Edward Kelly Sr. and Carol Ann Lightfoot.

Kevin enjoyed hunting with his son James and fishing with his family, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed shooting pool and collecting eagle, wolf, and Indian statues. As a member of the Iowa National Guard, he had a passion for deployment and proudly served his country. He began his military career in 1981 and served several branches until 2016.

He is survived by his mother, Carol (Gary) Scheffert; seven daughters Christina (Jimmy) Jones, Brittany Lightfoot, Breanna Lightfoot, Chelsi Brainard, Kortney Lightfoot, Kaylah Lightfoot, and Brianna Lightfoot; two sons, Chad (Ania) Gatena and James Lightfoot; 15 grandchildren, Ethan, Katie, Kelly, Keaton, Brooklyn, Zion, Jaxon, Trey, Alina, Bella, Bradyn, Brynli, Landon, Elliana, and Carterr; Three brothers Gerald (Heidi) Kelly Jr., B.J. Kelly, and Justin Kelly; Seven sisters Kathy Feuss, Roberta Kelly, Beverly Burdick, Jennifer (Doug) McKinley, Buffy (Shawn) Friedrich, Jamie (Jerry) Bloom, and Amanda Kelly.

Kevin is preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, his uncle Dale Lightfoot, and grandson Landon.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund in Kevin’s name has been established.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Iowa City Veterans Hospital, his girlfriend Jenny for all of her love and support, and Kevin’s mom Carol and her husband for taking care of him through his battle with cancer.
