Louise Leifker Obituary

Louise B. Leifker, 85, of Dubuque passed away Monday June 25, 2018 at Manor Care. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Saturday June 30, 2018 at Holy Spirit Parish Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Dwayne Thoman officiating, burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery in Benton, WI. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday June 29, 2018 at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory 2595 Rockdale Road where there will be a parish wake service at 6:30 p.m.

Louise was born in Dubuque the daughter of Joseph and Lucille (Abresch) Heitz. She married Joseph R. Leifker on April 19, 1955 at Saint Raphael Cathedral, and together they worked on their family farm near Council Hill, IL. She was a great homemaker who loved to work in the garden and enjoyed canning. She was a wonderful cook and had a great collection of recipe books. She loved to cook for others, just as long as she got her pie tins back.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who is survived by her six children, Margaret (David) Lang, of Bellevue, Bob (Cindy) Leifker, of East Dubuque, IL, Sandy Timmerman of Rockford, IL, Mark (Chris) Leifker of Scales Mound, IL, Rita (friend Tom) Straka of Racine, WI, and Barbara (Jenny) Leifker of Monmouth, IL; twelve grandchildren Amy, Adam, Sarah, Jamie, Tara, Jenny, John, Brandi, Amber, Scot, Heather, and April; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters Laura Seimetz of Bonfield, IL, and Diane Heitz of Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph; and siblings Dolores Riniker, Maxine Kirkpatrick, Leo Heitz, Artie Heitz, Clarence Heitz; and a granddaughter Angela Sue White.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Manor Care, Dr. Zhengjin Cao, and Angela Hubanks for all the loving care they gave to Louise.
