Luke was born on December 18th, 1982, in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Lennie and Kathy (Rubel) Thielen. He graduated from Hempstead High school in 2004.

Luke volunteered for many organizations, most recently with Kunkel & Associates, Inc.

Luke will be missed more than words could ever describe, but he will always be in the hearts of his loved ones and many other special friends.

Although his health may have slowed him up physically from time to time, his love for others only grew stronger. In the time he spent with us, he taught his family, friends and many others the true meaning of life. He taught us to love life, to cherish life and to live life to the fullest. Luke touched the hearts of everyone he met, he was truly a gift and a joy to all who knew him.

Luke will always be remembered for his love of sports. He had a winning spirit and his “team” always won. He could be found at many games wearing the jerseys from both teams, but the winning team’s jersey would always prevail.

Luke had a love for music and dancing, he enjoyed every opportunity he could to “give concerts” to his family and friends. He also enjoyed going to many concerts and plays. Karaoke was another love of Luke’s, whether on his own or at events, we will always remember his unique karaoke skills.

With his Grandpa Rubel, Grandpa and Grandma Thielen, uncles Lynn and Terry, and cousin Brody who proceeded him in death, he is now laughing, singing and watching over all of us.

Left to carry on his memory are his parents, Lennie and Kathy; his sister Erin (Rob) Sieverding; his brothers Cody (special friend Courtney), and Cory (special friend Christy); two very special nieces, Kylie and Jayda. His many aunts and uncles, who were all his “favorite”. Many, many wonderful cousins and his very special friends who became part of his and our family.

In Lieu of flowers a Luke Thielen memorial has been established.

A special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque, Especially Elizabeth, Dr. Sullivan and his many great Doctors and Nurses throughout the years. Also, his family and friends for their support throughout Luke’s life.

Rest in peace Luke, may your wings take you to the brightest star in the sky
