Lynn Silas Kifer, 86, of Sunset Park Place, Dubuque, Iowa passed away on July 19, 2017, at home, with family at his side.
Services will be at 10:00 on Monday, July 24th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Rev. Dianne Grace officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Zwingle, Iowa with military honors accorded by American Legion Post #6. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road.
Lynn was born on September 23, 1930 in Zwingle, Iowa the son of Carvol and Ethel (Niensteadt) Kifer. He graduated from Maquoketa High School and served in the U.S. Army, stationed mainly in Germany, and was a member of the VFW. He farmed in the Zwingle area until his retirement.
Lynn never married and had no children, but enjoyed a very close relationship with his only nephew, Darrell, and his family.
He is survived by his nephew Darrell (Carol) Kifer, of Dubuque; great nephew, Jeff (Mary) Kifer, of Peosta; and one great great nephew Tyson Kifer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother John C. Kifer; great niece, Krista Lin Kifer; and uncle, John Niensteadt.
