Mark Andrew Urban, 61, of Dubuque, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November, 26th, 2015 surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 30th, 2015 at University of Dubuque, Blades Chapel with Pastor Robert Kimble officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 29th, 2015 at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd. and also from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Service at Blades Chapel. Burial will follow in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.
Mark was born on February 21st, 1954 in Dubuque the son of Paul and Irene (LaFever) Urban. He grew up in Epworth and attended West Dubuque High School. He married the Love of his life Verna Kelly on July 14th, 1973.
Mark was a fun loving, one of a kind man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren more than anything. He had a quick wit and enjoyed fun times. He loved spending time with family, having “ham jams”, playing a good game of euchre, camping, fishing, and Friday night date night at Mario’s.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Verna, children; Chris (Andrea) Urban, Andy (Abby) Urban, and Kelly Urban, brothers and sisters; Diane (Phil) Elliot, Tom (Helen) Urban, Amy(Paul) Ledlow, Shirley Urban, Matt (Laurie) Urban, and Jane (Mike) Nieland, and many nieces and nephews.
Mark was the best “G” to Zachary Paul - “Z”, Owen Michael – “O-man”, Evan James – “Evanator”, Nora Lynn – “NoraLynnski”, and Grant – “Grant-man”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother; Julia Lingo, sister; Julie Scott, nephew; Kroy Urban, and father and mother-in-law; Mae and Larry Kelly.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque for the wonderful care they gave to Mark.
