Marlin L. Wittman, 86 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Stonehill Care Center.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. at Hope Evangelical Church, 11893 John F Kennedy Rd on Monday, June 1, 2015 with Pastor Nelson Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery with military detail accorded by American Legion Post #6. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31st at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the church.
Marlin was born on April 13, 1929 in Guttenberg, Iowa the son of Alfred and Rosetta (Sadewasser) Wittman. He married Fonda Morley on June 6, 1956 in Wyoming.
Marlin is a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War.
He worked for Kraft Foods as a milk hauler, he later worked for Dubuque Sand and Gravel until his retirement. After retirement he worked for the Dubuque Advertiser.
He loved gardening and was said to have the best looking yard in the neighborhood.
He is survived by his wife Fonda, two sons Mike Wittman, of Ankeny, and Scott (Susan) Wittmann, of Grand Junction, CO. Ten grandchildren, Shane Kremer, Shelley Welu, Abby Wittman, Jeff Wittman, Lindsay Welter, Erik Welter, Mackenzie Welter, Megan McDaniel, Chelsea Lawrence, and Madison Wittman and five great grandchildren. Two sisters, Arleen Adams and Virgene (Clarence) Groth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Lynn Welter, daughter-in-law Jane Wittman, and three brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Alfred Jr.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
Thank you to the staff of Stonehill Care Center and to all the doctors, nurses and Hospice of Dubuque who cared for Marlin.
