There are many words to describe Marty and here are a few: husband, father, son, brother, friend,  leader, artist, patriot, humble, loyal, courageous, dedicated, disciplined, solid, reliable, outrageously fun, loved a good time, great sense of humor, “Elvis,” avid hunter, serious Yankees fan, committed Vikings fan, and described by many to be a truly decent guy.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 21 years, Sharon, their two children, Katie and Kasey; parents Joe and Barb Lyons; brother Paul (wife Carol and children, Jordan, Zach, Rachel and Emily) of Coldwater, OH; sister Molly Ihlenfeldt (husband John and daughter, Layla) of Raleigh, NC; his grandmother, Susie Blatz of St. Catherine’s, IA; father-in-law, Allen Kilburg of Bellevue, IA; many Kilburg brothers and sisters-in law and nieces and nephews; a huge extended family including the James and Marian Lyons family, the Alcuin and Susie Blatz family, the Frank and Frances Kilburg family and LeRoy and Fances Bolender family.

Marty is preceded in death by his brother Tommy (3 months) and sister, Katie (2 years), his Uncle Joe Blatz, mother-in-law, DiAnn Kilburg, and most recently his Aunt Anne Lammer and Uncle Leroy Blatz.

Memorials may be made to the Marty Lyons Memorial Fund.

Sharon, Katie and Kasey would like to thank the doctors, treatment center nurses, Hospice of Dubuque and the many, many family and friends who have sent prayers, love and support.  Semper Fi.
