Mary E. Morong

Mary E. Morong, 67, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on March 8th, 2018 at Stonehill Care Center.

Funeral mass will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 12th, 2018 at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Andrew Maar officiating. Family and friends may gather after 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church, until time of mass. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Olivet Cemetery.  Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Mary was born on November 18, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa daughter of Roy and Veronica (Vera) Jones. She graduated from St Columbkille Elementary and Wahlert High School. Mary married Joseph Morong on August 18, 1973 and had a daughter, Melinda.

For a number of years Mary worked at the Coat Check at the Diamond Jo Casino. Mary made friends easily and cherished those friendships over the years. She was extremely caring and loving to both people and animals, very gregarious and generous to all. Mary loved to play games ,especially card and video games. She especially loved to spend time with her grandson, Geoffrey.

Mary is survived by her husband, Joseph "Joe"; her daughter Melinda; son-in-law, Jeff Hinzman; grandson Geoffrey Hinzman; sister Kathy (Steve Sievers); Sister-in-laws, Rita, Shirley, Debbie, Linda and Chris; and many nieces nephews and friends that she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt, Ann Miller and niece Kate Stevens.

Mary's family is sincerely grateful to the wonderfully loving, nurses and staff of The Finley Hospital and Stonehill Care Center.
