Randall Thomas “Randy” Ring, 66, of Dubuque passed away surrounded by his family on October 16, 2016 at home.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20th, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
Randy was born on August 3, 1950 in Dubuque, IA the son of Virginia Motsch and Robert Ring.
Randy loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife of 45 years, Sandy. Randy and Sandy were always by each other’s side and could often be spotted wearing coordinating outfits as they ventured out together. He was a devoted father and he loved his children beyond measure. Randy was a doting grandfather who spoiled his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love, attention and his special chocolate cupcakes. Randy also enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Go Junior!).
He was a hard worker and he left school when he was only 14 years-old to help support his mother and his siblings. Randy was employed by J & J Tree Service for 30 years. He was a skilled wood worker. He loved to have a project to work on and could fix anything or build it from scratch.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Motsch, his father Robert Ring, his in-laws Francis and Lillian White and his sister-in-law Jackie White.
Randy is survived by his wife Sandy Ring (White), his children Julie Oppelt (Roger), Rick Ring (Sarah) and Amy Adkins (Ben), his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his siblings Linda Slattery (Don), Barbara McDermott, Wayne Ring, Susan Doerr and Dan Ring and his step-father Herman Motsch.
He will be forever missed.
The family would like to thank Dubuque Hospice and the wonderful nurses who provided Randy with care and comfort.
