Rita Marie Foley, 88, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on October 21st, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 27th, 2017 at the Church of the Nativity with Msgr. James Miller officiating. Gathering of family and friends will be after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the church until time of mass. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is handling arrangements.
Rita was born on June 21, 1929, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Logan) Murphy. She married Patrick Foley, on January 11, 1958 at St. Raphael Cathedral, and he preceded her in death.
She attended St. Raphael grade school, St. Joseph’s Academy and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing. She worked for Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque in the Surgery Department until her retirement.
She is survived by her two sons, Thomas (Suzanne) Foley and Paul (Lori) Foley both of St. Paul, MN; four grandchildren, Megan, Katherine, Allyson and Michael. Two sisters, Gertrude Wersinger and Agnes Bernhard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Patrick; siblings Mary Beck, John Murphy, Theresa Moran and Ann Xavier.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Nativity Church.
