Robert A Wells, 82, of Dubuque passed away suddenly and unexpected on November 20, 2015.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd where services will be held at 6:00 p.m. with Msgr. Thomas Toale officiating. Private family burial will be on Friday at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
He was born on December 4, 1932 in Shullsburg, Wisconsin the son of William and Mary (Teasdale) Wells. He married Nancy Lee Hanson in January of 1951, the love of his life for 64+ years. They had four children:
William (Susan) Wells, Dubuque, Nancee (David) Frey, Bloomington, Ill., Michelle (Rick) Gansen, Cedar Rapids and Monica (deceased) (Tom) Ehlers, Dubuque. Nine Grandchildren and Fourteen Great Grandchildren.
He was employed for 36 years at Flexsteel Ind. and retired in 1993.
He was a long time member of St. Patrick's Parish, Dubuque Boat Club, and the American Legion. He loved playing golf and pool.
He is survived by his wife (favorite companion Bitzy), Children, Grandchildren, Great grand Children and a brother Joseph (Camilla) Wells. Sisters-in-Law Billie (Kenny) Rowles, Dubuque and Karen (James) Krause, Cuba City, Wis. and Shirley (Austin) Wells, Rock Island Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Wells, brother Austin Wells, Sister Audrey (Eugene) Niday and a daughter Monica Ehlers.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
