Rosemary A Weber

Rosemary A. Weber, 88, of St. Donatus, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at her daughters residence in Dubuque.

Private family services will be held at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Rev. Michael Podhajsky officiating.  Burial will be in St. Donatus Cemetery.

Rosemary was born on July 29, 1926 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of George and Margaret (Roscamp) Westercamp. She married Milo Weber on August 28, 1945 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dubuque. Milo preceded her in death on October 1, 2009 after 64 years of marriage.

Upon graduating from high school, Rosemary worked for the Dubuque Community School for two years. After marriage she traveled to San Francisco to be with Milo until he was discharged from the Navy. While there, she was employed by the Linde Air Products Co. Returning to Dubuque Rosemary was happy to be a stay-at-home mom to six children. She then returned to employment where she tended bar at the “King of Clubs” a family business and returned to the Dubuque Community Schools as an administrative Secretary for 35 years. She was also a bookkeeper for her husband's excavating business. 

Rosemary was a past leader of the Rosary Society, member of the Parish Council, and the American Legion. Her family and her faith were very important to her. She loved having the family every Thanksgiving and Easter. She was always anxious to lend a hand or a helpful word. Frequently Rosemary was seen helping at Horizon Pizza Parlor. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards. She was humbled and honored to have been selected as “Woman of the Year” by the Bellevue Bowling Association in 2010.

Rosemary and Milo hosted many wild game feeds and fish fry's at their cottage. They also enjoyed wintering in Florida for 27 years. During those years they graciously entertained many family and friends. At the top of her list was her grandchildren and she enjoyed attending their activities.

Having great memories of her life are her children; Connie (George) Saffran, Sandy (Dick) Ansel, Janelle (Dennis) Duwe, Randy (Jeanne) Weber, and Dan (Marianne) Weber. Twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Milo, a son Ron, grandson Timothy Duwe, two sisters Margaret Firzlaff and Dorothy Kipp, a brother George “Sonny”, and a granddaughter-in-law Amie Weber.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque especially Edna, Emily and Angie along with her caregivers Judy and Darcy for all their wonderful care and kindness they gave to Rosemary.
