Ruth Ann Denlinger, 72 of Dubuque and formerly of Balltown passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at Stonehill Care Center with her family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 2, 2016 at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church with Fr. Dwayne Thoman officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m.
Ruth was born on Sept. 22, 1943 in Dubuque the daughter of Vincent and Lucille (Neuses) Rolwes. She graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School in 1961 and on June 20, 1964 she married her High School sweetheart John Denlinger.
Together they farmed on the family homestead in Balltown for over 50 years. Ruth was a woman of great faith and was a long time member of Saint Francis Balltown before joining Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque. She enjoyed her grandchildren and doing canning along with going to dances and painting.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband John; her two sons, Steven Denlinger, of Balltown and Dale (Sandy) Denlinger, of Holy Cross; her four grandchildren, Nicole and Kelli Denlinger, and Jason and Alex Kauffmann; her two step grandchildren, Alex and Abbie Lenton; a son-in-law James (Amy) Kauffmann, of Epworth and two sisters Rosie (Ray) Tigges, of Dubuque and Rita Mae Riniker, of Epworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Linda Kauffmann on July 26, 2010 and a brother-in-law, Bernard Riniker.
A Ruth Ann Denlinger memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Stonehill Care Center third floor south and to Hospice of Dubuque for all the loving care they gave to Ruth.
