Sister Maxine Marie Rummelhart, BVM (Rupert), 89, of Marian Hall, 1050 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, at Marian Hall.

Visitation is from 9–11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, in the Marian Hall Chapel, followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m. Funeral liturgy is at 1:30 p.m. Burial is in the Mount Carmel cemetery.

Sister Maxine was an elementary school teacher in Chicago and DeKalb, Ill.; Mason City, Iowa; and Los Angeles and North Hollywood, Calif. She ministered as home health aide in Chicago and volunteered at Roberta Kuhn Center, Mount Carmel, Dubuque.

She was born in Riverside, Iowa, on June 26, 1926, daughter of Rupert and Clara Florang Rummelhart. She entered the BVM congregation on Sept. 8, 1943. She made her first profession of vows on March 19, 1946, and her final profession on Aug. 15, 1951.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Marie and Mildred Rummelhart, and Helen Green; and brothers: Paul, Francis, Mark, Omer and Melvin. She is survived by a sister, Marceline Schiefelbein, Elkhorn, Wis.; nieces; nephews; and the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with whom she shared life for 72 years.
