Sister Patricia Marie Potok

Sister Patricia (Pat) Marie Potok, BVM (Liberata), 83, of 1050 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, passed away March 18, 2018, at Marian Hall.

Visitation will be from 9–10:15 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, in the Marian Hall Chapel, followed immediately by a Sharing of Memories and funeral liturgy. Burial is in the Mount Carmel cemetery.

Sister Pat taught elementary school at St. Patrick in Cedar Rapids. She ministered as a nurse for the BVM congregation at Mount Carmel in Dubuque, where she later volunteered as health care provider. She also taught elementary school in Clinton, Iowa; Chicago; and Clarksdale, Miss.

She was born in Chicago on May 25, 1934, to Robert and Sophie F. Sum Potok. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1953, from St. Cornelius, Chicago. She professed first vows on March 19, 1956, and final vows on July 16, 1961.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a sister, Phyllis (Frank) Reale, West Chicago; nephews; and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 64 years.
