Stanley Richard “Stan” Moyer, 79, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Unity Point Health, Finley Hospital.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Rev. Donald Bakewell officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery with military detail accorded by American Legion Post #6. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 4th, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory.
Stan was born on February 25, 1936 in Prairie du Chien, WI the son of Homer and Theresa (Paczynski) Moyer. In 1963 he married Carol Pauly at St. Columbkille Catholic Church. Stan served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959.
He worked for Trus-Joist, Dubuque Stamp and Vasco Warehouse.
Stan enjoyed being outdoors; he loved to fish, camp, target practice and go morel hunting.
He is survived by his wife Carol, four children, David (Julie) Moyer, of Cedar Falls, Julie (Robert) Beyer, of Dubuque, Douglas (Connie) Moyer, of Waterloo, and Linda (Mark) Duve, of Dubuque. Seven grandchildren; Jacob, Taryn, Allison, Cailee, Maranda, Mitchell, and Emilee. His sister Kathy (Gary) Hohmann, brothers; Eddie Moyer and Carl (Carolyn) Moyer, one sister-in-law Lorraine Moyer and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Bernard “Bunny”, LeRoy, and Nick and a sister Marion.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Unity Point Health, Finley Hospital especially 5th floor for all their wonderful care and kindness.
