Virginia C. Motsch, 90 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on April 27th, 2016 at home.
Gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, May 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a service will be held at 1:00 with Rev. Scott Boone officiating.
Ginny was born on March 2, 1926 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Irving and Evelyn (Rellihan) Hubbard.
In her younger days she was employed at the Battery Factory, Glove Factory and Butter Factory. She also spent many years making Maid Rites in the early 60’s. Her final employment was working in the photo shop at Hartig Drug long before digital cameras came into existence. She married Herman Motsch on May 21st, 1977.
Ginny enjoyed gambling trips to Las Vegas, Bettendorf and the Diamond Jo along with playing Bingo. She had a special love of all animals, especially dogs. When there was a NBA basketball game or figure skating scheduled on television she planned her day so she wouldn’t miss it. There was always an open door at Christmas and Thanksgiving for anyone who wanted a good “home cooked meal”, with a hot poker game to follow. She gave fond memories of holidays at Grandma and Herman’s house.
She is survived by her husband Herman; her children, Linda (Don) Slattery, Randy (Sandy) Ring, Barb McDermott all of Dubuque, Sue Doerr and Dan Ring both of Bernard and Wayne Ring of Dubuque. Her stepdaughter Donna (Mel) Christensen; twelve grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson’s Tim Slattery and Mike McDermott, Jr., step-daughter, Carol Upman, step-grandson Michael Upman, and a brother Irving “Sonny” Hubbard Jr.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque especially “Good Cindy of the east” and Heather for all their wonderful care they gave.
