Walter J. Clapham, 84, of Peosta, IA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 11th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd with Fr. Steve Lange officiating, burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory.
Walter was born on July 25, 1933 in Peosta, Iowa the son of John and Harriet (Scott) Clapham.
He married Arlyce Westhoff on October 30th, 1951 at St. Philomena Church in Asbury, Iowa.
Walter farmed his entire life on his family’s Century farm. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards; but most of all his family was most important to him.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Arlyce; his children, Karen (Bob) Kloser, of Epworth, Bonnie (Bill) Steines, of Dubuque, Gary (Kathy) Clapham, of Dyersville, Bill (Karen) Clapham of Dubuque, Rick (Bev) Clapham, of Dubuque, Lynn (Ralph) Delaney, of Peosta, Judy (Bob) Rosenow, of Epworth, Nancy (Christopher) Rondeau, of Peosta; son-in-law Fr. Steve Lange of Rockford, IL. 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and two special little friends Mason and Lane.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents John and Harriet Clapham; his father and mother-in-law John and Frances Westhoff; sister and brother-in-law Ida and Martin Breitbach; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Sylvia Westhoff; brother-in-law John “Junior” Westhoff; and his special guardian angels, his daughter Kathy Sue (Clapham) Lange and great grandson Thomas John “T.J.” Quinn.
