Wilfred John “Willie” Hosch, 78 of Cascade and formerly of Bernard died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Saint Patrick’s Church, Garryowen with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of services.
Willie was born in Cascade, Iowa on May 20, 1936 the son of Paul and Marie (McCarthy) Hosch. He married Shirley Walsh on April 28, 1962 at Saint Patrick’s Church in Dubuque.
He worked for the former Dubuque Packing Company for 40 years and was a member of the UFCW local 150 A. He later worked for Justin Connolly Construction until his retirement. He was an active member of the Bernard Fire Department and served on the Board of Directors. Willie also was a former member of the Cascade Aquin School Board and the Garryowen Parish Council. He also served for many years as an usher at Garryowen.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, of Cascade a son Roger (Cheryl) Hosch, of Manchester, IA, a daughter Kellie Hosch, of Acworth, GA, three grandchildren Amanda, Tyler and Jacob Hosch of Manchester, a sister Mary (Richard) Prior, of Mesa, AZ a brother Donald (Rosella) Hosch, of Dubuque a sister in law Vonda Hosch, of Dubuque and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Raymond, Loras and his wife Virgie, and Charles.
