William E. "Bill" Blasen, 78 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, April 7th, 2015 at home.
Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 13th at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League and the Four Fives ceremony by the Key West Fire Department. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 12th at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale where there will be a wake service at 2:00 p.m. along with the Key West Fire Department to meet as a body at 6:00 p.m.
He was born April 1, 1937 son of Joseph J. and Helen A. (Ehrlich) Blasen Graduated from St Columbkille's Served 3 years in US Army, Stationed in Germany Married Barbara Jungk on May 27, 1961 Worked as a mechanic and truck driver, retired from Flexsteel Industries after 28 yrs Volunteer Fire Fighter at Key West for 26 years Inducted into the volunteer fire fighter Hall of Flame in 2000.
Survived by wife Barbara of 53 years, 6 children Steven, Paul (Dawn), Ann (Sean) Leppert, Lori (Scott) Butterbaugh, Ellen (Dave) Haberkorn, Chuck (Gina), and 12 grand children; Siblings: Mary Lou (Ted) Weeks, Joseph, Richard (Kathleen), Joanne Kiefer, Linda (Bob) Kunkel, Kathy (Irv) Behnke, and Mike.
Preceded in death by his parents and sisters Luane Anglin & Janet Helbing and infant daughter Elisabeth.
