Edna M. Houselog

Edna M. Houselog, of Dubuque, IA passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the age of 92. 

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m.  to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, IA, where there will be a wake service at 3:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Church, Key West with Monsignor Thomas Toale officiating.  The burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.   

She was born on April 3, 1932, in Dubuque, IA daughter of Joseph F. and Mary M. (Schroeder) Reinker.  On February 7, 1953, she married her high school love, Ronald L. Houselog, at St. Mary’s Church in Dubuque.  They shared over 61 years of marriage and six children. 

She spent her days reading, doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, especially all things for the babies.  More than anything, she loved her family and cherished all their time spent together.  She was a loving wife, mother, and adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild.

Edna is survived by four children: Dan (Joan) Houselog, Peosta, IA, Rick (Carol) Houselog, Phoenix, AZ, Randy (Nancy) Houselog, Dubuque, IA, Tina (Chris) Gau, Asbury, IA.  Daughter-in-law, Debbie Houselog, Dubuque, IA, son-in-law, Dan Hefel, Guttenburg, IA.  Eight grandchildren; Barbie (Harry) Trautwein, Dubuque, IA, Jessica Houselog, Dubuque, IA, Emmy (Rob) Hinton, Peosta, IA, Cassie (John) Boyce, Phoenix, AZ, Ryne Houselog, Phoenix, AZ, Jesse (Jenna) Hefel, Guttenburg, IA, Josh (Maddie) Gau, Dubuque, IA, Luke (Cassie) Gau, Dubuque, IA. Four great grandchildren; Jason, Romy, Cali, Lincoln. One great great grandchild, Bella.  Her very special niece and best friend, JoAnn Mahoney.  Sister-in-laws; Theresa Houselog and Gert Houselog. Also, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Sr., parents, a son, Ronald Jr., a daughter, Susan Hefel; 6 sisters; Ester (Harold) Huber, Marie (Frederick) Skemp, Rose (William) Kingley, Jeanette (Marion) Arnold, Trudy (Earl) Ludovissy, Kate (Leon) Pope; 2 brothers; Charles (Shirley) Reinker, Joseph (Arleen) Reinker.
